Benidorm World Cup success


This third edition of the race was another resounding success attracting the widest possible attendance: 16,000 people and with Felipe Orts (Ridley Racing Team) as the most acclaimed by the fans. The cyclo-cross World Cup celebration landed in the city of Benidorm welcoming the event for the third year in a row.

Statistics provided by the organisers certify, once again, that the competition has been a resounding success. The Worl cup is able to attract almost 12,000 people who specifically travel to Benidorm to enjoy the cyclocross, given that 73 % of the visitor (national and international) are from abroad.

Felipe Orts, weekend at home


Felipe Orts was the most acclaimed and wanted. The rider from Villajoyosa couldn’t stops signing autographs surrounded by thousands of people in this third edition of the Costa Blanca World Cp. “Once again, this year we have enjoyed this huge celebration. My closest family members as well as the most radical fans were able to join me”, Felipe confessed, laughing, after finishing 6th, his best result in this race.”  

However, an amazing show was guaranteed in the women’s category. Fem Van Empel kept her best position during the race, sweeping to victory, followed by Lucinda Brand and Maire Schreiber in the third place.

There were no chance for the Spanish women’s category, finishing outside the top twenty. Sofia Rodrígez and Lucía González were the best finishing in the 24th and 35th position.
