Last weekend, the UCI Gravel World Series 2025 calendar kicked off with the Castellón Gravel Race, a race that is becoming more and more consolidated. This year’s race has favoured the participation of top-level riders due to its tough course of 97 kilometres and 2700 metres of positive gradient.
Among the prominent names on the starting grid, Alejandro Valverde stood out, not only because of his sporting career, but also because he is the current defending champion. The Movistar rider battled with Tiago Ferreira (12″ back) throughout the race. However, Alejandro Valverde managed to cross the line alone to retain the title he won last year.
