The 10K Valencia Ibercaja by Kiprun has once again lived a day to remember by achieving a double record crowned with the male records in Europe and Spain.
The two world records that the race already held are now joined by the European and Spanish records for men. The Swedish athlete Andreas Almgren, who win the race crossing the finish line in 26:53, broke the record of the French Etienne Daguinos (27:04, Lille 2024).
After a thrilling final sprint, Almgren (26:53), Dominic Lobalu (26:54) and Vincent Langat (26:55) climbed to the top of the podium. On the other hand, in the female category, Kenya’s Hellen Ekalale (29:30) was the overall winner, followed by Ethiopian’s Girmawit Gebru (29:34) and Foyten Tesfay (29:42).
Spanish men’s records
Fort the second year running, the 10k Valencia revive the Spanish record. The athlete Ilias Fifa crossed the finish line in 27:41, beating Abdessamad Oukhelfen (27:44) mark in 2024.
Juan Antonio ‘Chiqui’ Pérez crossed the finish line in 27:45 on the heels of the first Spaniard. Jesús Ramos took third place crossing the finish line in 28:08. In the female category, the first three Spaniards to cross the finish line were Alicia Berzosa (32:07), María José Pérez (32:22) and Ikram Rharsalla (32:49).
The largest 10k edition
All these records have been achieved in the 17th edition of the 10k Valencia Ibercaja, where 13.046 runnerscrossed the finish line after enjoying the streets of Valencia and sprinting through the fastest circuit in the world, Europe and Spain.
The thousands of runners, starting the race to the rhythm of Chimo Bayo’s ‘Hu-Ha!’ from the Paseo de la Alameda, opened the year of running in style, making this the largest edition of the 10K to date.
